Big Wigs, Big Jams and Big Love: BERTHA Brings Grateful Drag Back to the Canyon | August 15th
On Saturday, August 15th the Mishawaka Amphitheatre was pleased to welcome back BERTHA: Grateful Drag for the second year in a row. Decorated in vibrant colors, sequins, glitter, they brought an electric energy that radiated throughout the evening. After arriving early to the Mish and experiencing a slight load-in delay from rain, they sang about the Poudre river, bringing smiles to patrons before the night officially began.

The crowd arrived wearing flower crowns, varieties of patterns, and sequins, perfectly complimenting the BERTHA’s on stage. The clouds cleared and a gentle breeze blew through the Mish, feeling like the summer was ending and fall was about to begin. Happily mingling amongst each other, the audience was excited and joyful to be graced with BERTHA’s presence. When asked if they were the year prior, an abundance of cheers came from the crowd.

Coming out of Nashville, TN, BERTHA has 7 members. Forming a family of BERTHA’s, they danced together on stage and created an organic discourse with the audience. Halfway through the evening, they had a set break to thank ‘Northern Colorado Equality,’ a non-profit organization based out of Fort Collins that supports and advocates for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. For this show, $1 of every ticket sold was donated to the organization.

Before BERTHA came back on stage, Jenna Tavia captivated the audience with a brief but exuberant performance. Dressed in a silver and red sequin jumpsuit, Jenna performed to Disco Snails, Funky Town, September, and Boogie Wonderland. Ending her performance with a death drop, the crowd was clapping, cheering, and hollering as the BERTHA’s came back for their second set.

During the second set, a killer drum solo occurred, complete with playing the tambourine on the drums. They ended the night beautifully by expressing gratitude to their audience, where it was reciprocated right back to them.
