The Mishawaka Takes Flight with Goose | August 31st
On Monday, August 31st, the Mishawaka Amphitheatre took flight with the highly anticipated sold out evening with Goose. Stopping in the Poudre Canyon as one of their last nights on tour, they continued their celebration of the release of their sixth studio album, BIG MODERN!.

Bellvue, Colorado experienced a unique evening, with lighting expanding in every direction. The tops of the hills behind the stage and the back of the audience were illuminated much more than a typical evening. Goose is a 4 piece set, with Rick Mitarotonda on vocals/guitar, Peter Anspach on vocals/keys/guitar, Trevor Weekz on bass, and Cotter Ellis on drums. They took the stage with an electric presence, which carried throughout their two sets as they sang into their neon yellow and pink mics.

The crowd arrived bright and early, setting up lawn chairs and making a list among themselves of who arrived first so they could line up accordingly. Once the gates opened, a flood of tie dye, sequins and flat brim hats scurried into the venue to claim their places. The merch line immediately formed and didn’t stop growing until Goose took the stage. The venue was buzzing with excitement all evening.

Some special moments from the night were when they played a Sanskrit Indian River, and ended their first set with a “Jivefecta” (Jive I, II, and Jive Lee in succession) for only the fourth time ever. They also played “Into the Myst” while weaving in and out of “The Labyrinth.” Hearing this beneath the stars, next to the river in a canyon created an air of speciality for this song. They came out with an Elvis encore, and played covers such as “Me and My Uncle,” “Hollywood Nights,” and “Caution.”
