Glittery, Glamorous, Soul: St. Paul & The Broken Bones at The Mishawaka | August 30th

The Mishawaka was packed full on Sunday for an unforgettable night of soul, dancing, and sparkles. St. Paul & The Broken Bones, a retro-soul group based in Birmingham, Alabama, chose to end their tour on a high note here at the Mish. Before they took the stage, solo artist Tré Burt warmed up the audience with his acoustic guitar and smooth voice.

As the crowd awaited St. Paul & The Broken Bones, the lights dimmed and “Fantasy” by Mariah Carey swept over the crowd, and before they knew it, the eight-piece band strutted onto the stage… except for one. The seven instrumentalists of the band broke into a funky musical intro, and not far behind came Paul, draped in a gold, glittery robe.

The band played one catchy and groovy song after another, keeping the audience on their feet and dancing. Throughout the whole show, each member would get a chance to solo for minutes, which kept the crowd engaged and enthralled.

As the performance came to a close, an encore began, but Paul was nowhere to be seen. Audience members looked around, confused, until finally, his shiny attire could be spotted on the Rocky Mountain Adult Drinks (RAD) VIP deck. St. Paul & The Broken Bones ended their set on a high note, with Paul performing their last song entirely from the deck.
