Dancing in the Round: A Sunset Night with KASBO | Saturday, September 20th

This past Saturday, September 20, The Mishawaka Amphitheatre was transformed into something truly unique for an unforgettable night with Kasbo. This show was “in the round,” meaning the DJ booth was set up in the middle of the venue with the audience surrounding it on all sides — creating an immersive, 360° dance floor. Cooler evening temperatures and a light sprinkle of rain rolled in just as the music began, but that didn’t stop the crowd — teens through 40-somethings dressed in slick streetwear, flowing fits, and full-body pashminas — from showing up ready to dance.

The evening kicked off with Berlin-based artist JOPLYN, a multi-talented DJ, singer, and songwriter who blends live vocals, synths, and original productions into dreamy melodic house and techno. Known as “the girl with the two dots,” JOPLYN created an intimate vibe as she performed her set standing on rolled out grass, surrounded by the audience on all sides. At first, people hung back from the table out of respect, but as her ethereal, echoing vocals floated over the venue, the crowd inched closer and closer until they were fully immersed. It felt less like an opener and more like a gentle invitation into the night.

By 5 PM, Kasbo — Swedish DJ and producer Carl Garsbo — took his place at the center of the venue for what he called his “Sunset Set.” This in-the-round format flipped the usual Mishawaka experience on its head: with no one facing a stage, the audience formed a living circle around him. His three-hour set moved seamlessly through emotional, melodic drops and dance-floor highs, featuring tracks from his albums Places We Don’t Know, The Making of a Paracosm, and The Learning of Urgency.

The energy was electric. For this special setup, the stage was opened for fans to dance, film, and experience a whole new perspective of the Poudre Canyon venue. Friends hugged, couples danced, and even children as young as six months joined their parents on stage. Familiar voices rang out as longtime fans sang along to every track, and when Kasbo dropped Fred again..’s Glow and MGMT’s Kids, the entire amphitheatre erupted. One fan shared with a Mish staff member that she had walked down the aisle at her wedding to a Kasbo song — and celebrated the memory by dancing across the stage, grinning ear to ear.

The music wrapped around 10 PM, but not before Kasbo thanked the crowd for making his return to Colorado — after several years away — so meaningful. The audience left glowing, buzzing with the magic of a night that felt intimate, one-of-a-kind, and deeply communal.
